How to secure my hood

Some A.H. stole my battery right in my driveway in the last couple of days. How do you all secure your hood so that doesn't happen again. Motion detector spotlights are in my near future.

Locking hood pins and a cover.

Of course, you're probably not interested in drilling big holes in your hood. I got lucky in that the previous owner had already put one in. Yes, just one. I don't know what they were thinking.

 

You know.. I've seen that on a few cars... I wonder if there's a hidden meaning to it or if it's just laziness?

I used to use a chain and a lock

 

^Me too,chain from the hood latch to the rad support with a pad lock.

 

a 95 lb rottweiler sitting in front of your hood will usually keep it shut

I think the padlock and chain is the best idea, because it isnt permanent

Ive always used lock and chain.. If that doesnt work try the ole AK-47 with a good scope.

I agree w\ the chain and lock folks. It's an old method that goes back decades; it's cheap, effective and easily accomplished.
I wud make only one more suggestion - I wrap my chain w\ "tight-fitting" bike innertube to keep from scratching paint and reducing metal to metal noise. Take up as much slack as possible. The nx AH who wants a free battery will find it easier to go somewhere else.

 

He cut himself taking it out and left blood on the hood nose trim. The cop who came out (really nice guy who used to have a Falcon) took a sample. He said it would be 6 months or more until the crime lab had a chance to check it. Not much priority for misdemenor dna tests. He called this AM while i was asleep. He's calling back this aft. I hope he found it.
I am off to Lowe's for motion detector spot lights and some chain..
Just what I need , another key to carry around.

 

I use to use a coated steel cable, that I had the ends crimped, and a pad lock. That was after my new battery got stolen......and they cut my brand new battery cables....

 

No key needed with this....
