Can I put 15x10 in. rims in the back with a 4.5 backspace?
I want 275/50/15's. Tell me what you think.

I think it will rub, definately on the inside and most likely on the outside too.

    Thanks...

Well. I'm not sure. I see some other Maverick guys/gals running tires with those specs. They seem to work fine. I was wondering if anybody does run them what are the downsides. I think they would rub but not sure.

I haven't seen 10 inch rims on a maverick without rubbing problems.
That tire size would work on an 8" wheel if it's centered (4" backspace), but it's tight.
For the record, I run 275/60r15 on Cragars with 4" backspace and have minimal clearance issues, but I did get a hammer and saw involved for a few things on the inside.

I have not seen a 10" wheel on a a mav without modifications. Either way you look at it, the tire will end up rubbing the leaf spring and the wheel opening. 3" backspacing would get it away from the leafspring but you would have to raise the rearend of the car to get the tires to clear the wheel opening. Seems the easiest to work with rear wheel width is 8".

I have a pair of 295/50R/15 on the back of my '71..but I'm only using an 8"rim with a 4" offset. Everything fits fine and with no rubbing.

Two 1973 LDO Mavericks (one 4 Drag one 4 driving like Mad on the roads :) ) also have a 75 6cyl Stock! Ok, well sort of Stock :P
if you want the car to look right they will rub.

if you jack the car up with air shocks and go for that lovely 70s retro look and have the wheels & tires stick out of the fenders.. yeah you could get them on. but then again do you really want you car to look like that.. Just my 1 cent.

Hey! Don't encourage air shocks Derrick! :D
If you want to raise the rear, use re-arched or four leaf springs.
Jacking up the rear of the car will hurt weight tranfer, cornering, and comfort.
In my opinion, you should get with a really good tire and wheel person and stuff as much tire as you can in the stock wheel opening and grab a set of slapper bars or some cal tracks. I have no personal experience with cal tracks but some pretty sharp folks on this board say they work great.
Put up some pics when you can and good luck!

    A 15x9" rim w/ 4.25" backspacing will work.....

All right. let's see if I figured it out....

Ixnay on the 10" in rims. Unless I want to modify the backend some how. So I will go for 8" rims with 4" backspacing. 295's???. I was under the impression you had to run a 10" rim with that big of a wheel. I'll go with 275's on an 8 in' rim. If it rubs under hard jounce that is okay. I would like to put cal-trac bars on it. Plus a LSD in the back with 3.55 or 4.11's. I think it would come off the line faster than any import.
