I finally solved my oil leak problem today and i was headed to the junkyard, suddenly my car jerks to the right and wobbles all over the place and the tires squeel at 40 mph!!!

Pulled over and my mavericks front tires are doing the penguin Except its the opposite

I think i need an alignment, I didnt know it could happen so fast. i just relaced the control arm

 

so what broke?

 

nothing "looks" broken, took it to the tech school and hopefully we will throw it on the rack tomorrow. Im stumped.... it must be an alignment issue.


EDIT: i left some stuff out, i just fixed it.

 

Where did you buy your parts?

 

The control arm? stock part off of the driver side when i replaced it (ball joint went bad), i had to put it back because i bent it a couple months later

 

Your wheels wont just suddenly toe out...Something let go...I dont think an alignement is going to fix it. Hope I'm wrong for your wallets sake but I think your going to be buying some parts in the very near future.Good luck...

 

they may not suddenly toe out but the first 3 hours of driving today, i had noticed the steering was very loose, now keep in mind this is the first time i had driven it since i did the control arm

 

Did you have the lower control arm off? Sounds like maybe the eccentric bolt wasn't tight enough.

 

Thats what i was originally thinking! I have it torqued to 30 pounds but would that really cause the tire to kickout???

EDIT: which one is it jamie, not tight enough or slipped completely out lol

 

Could cause it to kick in or out depending on which way it slips.

 

Torque the lower arm pivot to 75—100 ft. lbs.

Anything that causes the front wheels to bow in or out scares the hell out of me! I always think........what would have happened if that happened on the highway at 120 k/m.

 

Tech school fixed it for free, the tierod was loose, they replaced it, did an alignment, and tightend the control arm bolt. Car handles like a dream

 

Well you can't beat that , that's for sure.
