I have a 75 mav with a 250 and I'm figure out all the vaccuam hose connections and I have this one part I don't know what its is. Is this a solenoid vacuum value? Is that the correct name?
i think thats the flux capasitor. no really i have no idea what that is. the pic is a little fuzzy and maybe playing tricks on my eyes. it almost looks like a fuel sending unit that goes in the tank but its not right for that. more pics may help.
I agree with Bryant. Too fuzzy to tell if it is a flux capacitor or the reservoir for your headlight fluid.
If it came off the valve cover bolt (above the fuel pump) then it is the spark delay valve. From the book: "The spark delay valve is a plastic, spring-loaded, color coded valve which is installed in the vacuum line to the distributor advance diaphragm on many 1972-77 models. Under heavy throttle application, the valve will close, blocking normal carburetor vacuum to the distributor. After the designated period of closed time, the valve opens, restoring the carburetor vacuum to the distributor."
Here is a pic of the one on my 250. At one time the wire was connected to a electric fuel pump and I always thought it looked funny that the hose loops back into itself. I still don't know what to do with it?
In the picture, it looks like there is only one vacuum hose on it. Didn't some '76-'77 cars have a vacuum controlled switch that illuminated the low fuel economy light? It was mounted somewhere on the valve cover too I think.
