I like to have everything on my projects working like factory like E-brakes,horn,dash lights ect.,I wanted to get the backup lights working(this was an original 70 6cyl,auto) the wire harness somewhere between the rear backup lights have a black with red stripe wire coming from the lights,it goes into the harness with the tailight and sender unit wires, but when the harness gets to the left kick panel the black with red stripe wire is NOT there!,I've had this car down to a bare shell and redid every inch of it and there are no other wires running forward,I finally ran a wire up through the car under the rug to get them to work, just for my own info, does someone that restores these cars from scratch (Ray or Craig) know what happens to that wire or where it goes!!! It's got to be there somewhere....Thanks Jack

It probably goes to the transmission or neutral start switch

The power for the reverse lights, is fed from the same circuit that feeds the light in the radio. If you've modified that,...

Dave is right. And the radio area is usually hacked in most of these cars. You could source that power source again, or just simply find a switched on power source to tie into for power to that wire.

What I'm trying to say is,the mesh wrapped harness leaves the trunk, runs up over w/house lays in troff in rocker and comes out in left kick panel and when you cut mesh harness covering off,the black and red wire is no longer there, and it didn't branch off anywhere, where did it go???

From my findings things change big time and get taken over by other circuits in the column and dash areas. It may take a schematic to solve.
