If, it's in the junkyard.. there is usually a reason.

I would rebuilt the one you have. If you get the one from the junkyard I would rebuilt it. Either way is best.

I agree with Mike. For a couple of hundred you'd have an updated roller motor. Either way I'd make sure of what I had and rebuild either one.:)

Do the roller motor. The difference isn't even close. As for why it's in the junkyard, that's by no means an indication something was wrong with the engine itself. Just doing a little investigation you can tell if there was indeed something wrong with the engine itself.

Like I was told years ago....

If a used engine comes out of a wrecked car, it is reasonable to assume that it should be decent. After all, it did drive the car to the accident. LOL

i learned a long time ago you dont pull a engine out and drop it in. you go through it. i would do the one you already have.if you get a roller you have to buy special flexplate or flywheel cause of the balance take that money and put in yours.

you will need a electric fuil pump a different steel cam gear for the distributor and a 50 oz flywheel/flexplate
swap the oil pan from the mav

and if you plan on puting a cam in it the prices are a little more high priced for a roller cam $$

That 50 oz flexplate costs all of $50. :D You'll spend more than that on new flat tappet lifters. (the first time)
