i was wondering if it is worth it to change the drum brakes to disk. i know that it will cost about 1000 which not to happy to buy so is it really worth it or should i just keep the drums
It shouldn't cost $1,000...maybe $400-$500. You could drill your drums yourself and get better brakes.
upgrading to disc was one of the best things i done to my car. if you shop around you can still find setups in junkyards.
thank you for your help on both ideas but im going to prob. what until i get enough time do that. i was just wondering for ideas
the front disk is increadibly better... im trying to restore a front axle for my truck to convert it now.... worth every penny!
I got my front discs in a salvage yard for $100. including tie rod ends, every nut and bolt and even the lug nuts off the donor. Had the discs turned and new pads and an allignmment. Under $200. money well spent.
I have not done my Maverick yet but plan to. I have converted my 71 F100 to discs and would never go back. The drums worked and stopped the truck but the discs are just so much better. Less to no fade when loaded. Always stops straight in an emergency type stop. Easier to maintain. They were very easy to convert also. I did a power-steering, power-brake and automatic tranny swap at the same time and it was a complete shock at how much more I enjoyed my truck afterwards. The power-disc brakes on the 71 F100 will just about stop anything. Even when pulling a loaded car trailer. On a Maverick it also gives you more wheel and tire choices clint
