hey guys, i am letting everyone know that june 5 is old towns big anniversary show and was hoping we could get the local members in the central florida area to represent. there are almost never any mavs or comet down there so it would be great to let people know how hot these cars can be. old town is located in kissimmee florida on highway 192. easy to get to from i-4. registration opens at 9:30 am. there are usually 800-900 cars at this cruise. the show opens at 9:30 and runs all day then at 8:30p.m. the cars line up the file through the streets of old town. registration and parking are free. the first 800 cars get free commenrative plates. i am busting my a_ _ getting my car ready to take even though it will be in primer. primer is allowed if it is all one color primer and on the whole car(no spots) who will help me? give me a shout and we can arrange to meet somewhere close and go in together. p.s. for those up north the temp down here today is a balmy 94. got to love florida huh?
Coming to Florida soon! Jason, I won't be able to make the show This time but Im planing to retire in the Orlando area in 3to5 years. We have been to Orlando many times as my inlaws line/part time in Eustus. I know the area well! I never see any Mavericks in Florida except for the one time I drove mine to Datona Beech in the spring of 1980! Mabe we could meet after I move. Allthough Michigan is wonderful I dought I will miss it! Joe
Hey Joe, My parents lived in Westland, Mi. They just moved permently to Florida. Not far from Orlando area, in Palmetto. They are on the gulf side. I was just there the first week of January. It was my first time down there. Very pretty, I might retire there also. I was born & raised in the Detroit area (graduated from Cody High). Joined the Navy at 18, never been back except to visit. Small world.
Jason, Please allow me to give you a friendly bit of advice to possibly help you avoid wasting so much effort to get your car ready for the Old Town show. Have a good paint job on your car. If you car does not meet their standards, the uptight a-holes who put on the show will not allow you to participate. I am going to try to get over there this weekend to meet some of you folks. fred, you are right about the uptight a holes down there. i have had run ins with them before. that is why i went down there last weekend and asked very specifically what is and is not allowed to come in. everyone down there is cool except mike who actually runs the show. he is the ass that pisses people off. i am still going down there and try. i saw alot worse cars than mine last week. some sporting serious cancer areas. do you live near there. you sound like you have had run ins also. what condition is your car in? we should gang up on them. with that many cars coming in they won't want to pick a fight. don't let one a hole ruin a good thing. there are alot of good people at the show. you just have to avoid mike. send me a p.m. and i will get you my cell phone number so we can meet up.
