Alternator belt setup . . .

    hey guys . . . yet another problem. Well I got plenty but I'm rationing them . . . :tiphat:

    so the alternator is sitting weird and I need to know how your guys have your alternator positioned and what brackets you guys are using. How did you guys make the spacers etc. . .

    this is what it looks like right now . . . bryant and i been talking about converting to a serpentine setup but there is so many other things we never get to it . . .

    mo i see the problem. there is susposed to be a bracket that supports the top bolt. it goes from the water pump to the top bolt that is going to the head. with out that the pressure of the belt will pull against that bolt and cause the alt not be able to stay square to everything else. i think i have the bracket somewhere, and i might be geting a chrome bracke off another motor swap job i have at the shop, that i might be able to get for you.

    I know u were busy today so I didn't wanna take up ur time. But tomorrow (tue) I'm gonna stop by if that's alright and we can talk about the T5 and hopefully u can help me with the alternator. I have some brackets laying around as well I'll bring with me.

    ok nobody laugh but I actually have those 2 pieces. bought it a while ago and looked at the triangle and thought it was unnecessary. ahhhhh

    Also, without the bracket, the mounting hole of the upper bolt can strip out (don't ask how I know). Hopefully yours is in good shape.

    i got some spy pics of mo's new bracket
    the last one show shows the coolant that leaked while changing the bracket. :16suspect no sure how coolant gets spilled while changing the alt bracket but hey hes the doctor.:thumbs2:

    that's not coolant, I couldn't hold it . . . no bathrooms nearby . . . bryant wouldn't let me use the bathroom at his shop!:cry:

    The bolts holding the bracket pass through the water jacket. That's why you use sealer (Permatex) on the bolts
