I put a dash cap on mine about 5 years ago and all I did was stick it on with no glue. It has worked fine ever since. I just bought my son one for his '73 Comet and got it from J.C. Whitney in about three days. There are others on ebay, but I had a free shipping coupon from Whitney. You should sand the edges a little and paint it with a spray bottle. I got mine from the paint shop that mixed the paint for me from the paint code.

I got mine on ebay too. Good quality, fit.

The Maverick dash is pretty simple and basic, I also got a full dash cap from the same company on ebay for my 79 Malibu, much bigger and is complete, including where it drops down around the radio bezel, again, good quality, excellent fit.
