First time I've ever been at the track and my god I'm smitten. I had no clue what I was doing, I was in line and all I know is everything was happening so freaking fast. There was some insane cars in line. It was my turn and I have never done a burn out so I just kinda waited and when I was supposed to drive up to the light I totally overshot the mark so the dude had to make me back up into the right spot. When I was going down the track I didn't know how far to go so I let off the gas a little, the car was going so fast, so awesome! Here is my first time slip, with some tirespinning:
    R/T: 1.174
    60': 2.500
    330: 7.055
    1/8: 10.625
    MPH: 69.14

The second pass I took out the fuse to the electric fan and decided to floor it as soon as the 3rd yellow light came on:

    R/T: .873
    60': 2.274
    330: 6.349
    1/8: 9.768
    mph: 71.56

3rd pass was awesome too, I actually did a little burnout, my first one ever :bananaman:bananaman:

    R/T: .747
    60': 2.226
    330: 6.314
    1/8: 9.746
    mph: 71.27

Cool, now you have been bitten by the drag bug :)

You would be surprised by how many first timers stage at the tree instead of the starting line. I dont like to let off the gas even at the end I just want to go on and on

We have to wait until March before we get a chance at the 1/4 again :(

I can't wait either!!!............it's been 20+ years since I made a pass down the 1/4 mile. I'm not much on the 1/8, but the guy who had the car before me had some 6:0 to 1 (I have the ring/pinion) gears for the 9" and said he ran in the mid 6's.....................the car has run in the 9.9's in the quarter but the first couple of passes I'll probably bring the throttle stop up a little and get used to the car before going all out.
I just got the new slicks for the rear and have ordered the tires for the front and just sent my 6 point harness and window net back to to have them recertified.
Can't wait to back into the "wet box", push the line lock, pull it down into first, jab the throttle........come up against the rev limiter.......shift into second.........release the line lock and ease off the throttle, make one dry hop, then stage.......slowly hit the first light, then the second..........hit the trans brake, bring the rpms up to the rev limiter, then hit the trans brake and HOLD ON!...........making sure the tape on the steering wheel is dead center if it hits the wheelie bars....................Can't wait until March for the track to open!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You should join one of the Summit Series bracket teams. Run Sportsman and you'll have lots of fun and meet a lot of people. Irwindale has a team. So does Barona. Next years ET finals will be in Sacramento. This years was at Firebird. We had 574 cars there. 148 were in Sportsman. I lost in the final round.:)
