I asked a parts dealer about if he knew where to get a 2bbl carb for a 250 I6 nearby and he sent me back:
"Does it matter if it is a electric ? I don't have one but I might know someone who does ?"
Does this make sense to anyone? I'm assuming maybe he's talking about an electric choke, but I don't wanna sound as green as I am and have the price jacked on me. Can anyone clarify?

A search on electric 2 barrel carb turns up all electric choke carbs, so it appears you're right. :thumbs2:

If it makes you feel any better I didnt know either....lol I was pretty sure it meant electric choke but "maybe" I missed something somewhere and there was a type of carb that was more then choke driven.

thnks! I have a manual choke carb on there right now but I don't think it should be a problem doing a switch.

-not to jack my own thread, but I haven't forgot about doing that project car meet in Va.. I've just been really bad this last week about getting my ducks in a row.

Are you going to be using an adapter or are you doing the conversion on the head?

I was thinking adapter. Haven't researched the conversion to electric choke too much yet. just enough to see that it was possible. Been having so much trouble finding a reasonable priced 2bbl i figured I'd take what I could get... In the tech article on switching to a 2bbl on an I6 the posts made it seem like the adapter is only a few bucks.

Electric choke shouldnt be hard to wire up... All the ones I've ever seen just had a power wire going to them that comes up w/ the key.

sweet! i think the funniest part of this thread is that I lost a screw to my current choke and i don't think it works anyway. not like it would be any different if an electric choke did work lol

Good luck with that. I'm probably going to end up doing the conversion on the head to accept the 2bbl carb. Reason why is because while the head is off I'd figre I may as well put in the money for a refreshened up head and may also take the time to put in a mild cam.

I believe I read on fordsix.com that the conversion will yield better results on the power side if it's converted. But good luck, Cheers!
