okies i been working on 73 mavericks forever now and can tear that thing apart like thousand times.... but i guess anything above 73 is way differant and has like ten millon screws and more things on it then it needs! what with all the vacume lines gees.. its like a new car! stupid smog laws! anyways i can figure out how you get the darn plastic peice over the seat belts off the floor? already took the screws out and the 3 tork bit bolts... how the heck do you get the friggen thing off? and man, that catty humps gotta go! ok i'm jsut having a bad day... never mind. i'm all ears! thanks
The seatbelt recoils are recessed into the rocker panel. You need to pull out from rocker panel and into the car. Also there is a gasket which is a little sticky going around the holes in the rocker panel. Good luck.
Doug nailed it. These is a sticky gasket all the way around the coils that practically holds it in place. You need to remove the seat and get a prybar on it. They will come out once you get it started.
What hit me funny, was the fact that he didn't have a problem with the torx bolts. Usually they are loctited in and can be really hard to get out.
yeah i too the seat out.. and damn talk about heavy.. i jacked up one of the door pannels too but yeah, i took the rocker pannel out.. another thin i noticed is that the little card board thingy under the rocker pannel was screwed in with one screw. i have never seen that before. i don't recall my 74 that i had have that either. as for the torx bolt.. is called an impact wrench! that thing will take off anything but man 3 of them.. i think thats a bit over kill don't you think? i'm gonna head outside now and try to take the figgin think off now... wish me luck. btw craig i'm gonna send that check out today or tuesday.
Hey, Mine didn't have an seal or gasket? As far as I know, I am the only wrench monkey to take mine apart. I just put them back in, and there was no seal of any kind. They weren't too bad to get in or out as long as you have the seats out of the car. Seth
You guys are the guys I've been looking for. I need to finish the B&M shifter job. The last bit is the NUETRAL START switch. WHERE? WHICH wires? Help me please. not something I want to leave incomplete.
Stallion, it ties into the shifter, are you upgrading to an aftermarket shifter? instructions on the shifter install explain this. If you are installing a used shifter then we will have to find you the instructions to finish this. It is not hard, just have to know what is what.. Dan
Maverick Man, I have that cardboard piece under the sill plate in my '77, it was held in with one screw on each side, I belive it is some sort of spacer or "gasket" that goes under the sill plate.
