Maverick?

I found this a long time ago and was going to post it but for got to is it a maverick?. the tail lights s what got my attention.

 

looks like a 74 or newer mav to me.

 

I didnt get a picture of the front cause from people that live around the guy say hes really angry

How can you tell its a '74?

I can see the date stamp on the taillights.

 

I just dont know how people can look at the back of a maverick and say "hey, thats a '74" when they all used the same parts in almost all years...lol

 

Well the '74 and up is correct but calling it strictly a '74 i don't see how they can say that as '74 to '77 all look the same to me. The hubcaps and the gas cap my be different if they are the originals. Dunno. Kinda sad to see it just sitting there rusting.

 

It's hard to tell from the picture, but it looks like it has side moldings. If they are just simple moldings that do not go over the wheel openings it might be a '77 Maverick.

'74 said Maverick on the right side of the trunk lid and had the "horns" on the gas cap. '75 and '76 had the "F O R D" letters on the trunk lid and hood and had Maverick on the gas cap. '77 did not say Maverick anywhere on the car and I'm not sure about the FORD letters or the gas cap on a '77. Anyone know?

 

Well there you go, i did not know of any of that info.

 

My '77 Maverick has the FORD letters on both the hood and trunk lid. The MAVERICK name doesn't appear anywhere on the car except the grill and I added that emblem myself. The gas cap has the steer head on it.
