how's it goin' guys? I just found the site while goofing around on the internet.
I've got a 72 Comet GT and a 71 comet GT. The 72 has a mild 351W, 4.62's and a floor shift C4 in it. The 71 is a roller that's been sitting for about 15 years now lol. Both of my comets are in NE Texas, but I live in San Diego and race a ZX14 at Barona 1/8th mile drag strip every chance I get. My fastest pass in the Comet is an 8.4 and my fastest on the 14 is a 5.9 (with a 3-4k ft density altitude).

Looking forward to getting to know some stuff and pick some people's brains on how to do a rack and pinion swap so that i can get rid of my shock towers and not have run dented headers lol. being able to change spark plugs will be nice too lol.

I'm sure there will be a lot more people here in the near future. Mavs and comets are showing up left and right at the track. I guess that people are starting to figure out that mustangs and camaros weren't the only and damn sure weren't the lightest unibody cars out there lol. My dad got the red comet when he was 15 years old. My brother and I were both carried home from the hospital in it, and it's had everything from the stock 302 to a hot 351 which got sold when he got into a pinch and had to put a 255 in it, and then in 1982 he built this 351 which has a 280 duration cam, old single plane intake, and a 600 holley.

Mavericks & Comets are Mustangs but with a narrow engine bay. Not much difference otherwise.

I look at them as an alternative to a Mustang as a Nova is an alternative to a Camaro. Under the skin - it's the same car.

Welcome to the board. There's a number of guys on here that run at Barona. I'd like to try it sometime. Is Jay still the track manager over there? :Welcome:

yeah, he's running a beat to **** old zx12 in summit motorcycles. There's a red mav that i saw out there a couple of races ago with a centrifagal super charger that was bad ass. Does anyone know who he is? There's also a blue grabber that runs pretty stout out there as well. I'm sure that those of you out there have seen me at one point. I race this...
