I broke the housing on the Torino GT I used to have prying on it. Unless you have a back up be patient and work it but don't force it. My GTO had a place on it where you could use a wrench (couldn't get to it in the car:hmmm:) but those distributors never deem to get stuck like the Fords do.

Put dry ice on the distributer housing and use some thin wood shims to try to insulate the block from the baggy Let it sit a few hours then try to work the distributor loose.

my thinking is....if the dist. is this stuck, what makes you think the timming has moved. could it be something else that needs to be addressed first and then deal with the dist...

I agree with Frank on this situation. It could be something else wrong.

As far as getting it out, I've tapped on the vacume advance both ways with a hammer and also used turning the motor over with a socket to try and force it up.

Does it move at all either way, or is it like it's "welded" to the block

A little heat and a candle sometimes works.
My friends Jag had some suspension parts seized, aluminum to steel. I heated them up, and pressed a candle to the spot where the joint was, the wax penetrated, and we got it apart. He had tried for days to get the parts to separate, along with someone before him.....seemed goofy, but it worked, I forget where I read about it??

The candle trick works great on rusty bolts.

I didn't think about it for the distributor. Good call Dave

if timing is off and cant move dizzy sounds like timeing chain may be strecthed. sounds like dizzy never been removed so i bet chain hasnt been changed out either .just my 2 cents.
the p b blaster and love taps usualy work for me. but if a factory dizz, they are not expensive to replace if you break it. hope you get it to move. and like the candle idea . never tryed it . have tryed ice and didnt work.
