Hi guys I have a chance to get a couple of black cloth seats with the ford emblem stitched in them.I am not sure on the year, does anyone know and how much of a issue or difficulty is it to mount where my bench seat is in my 76 comet 2 door for more leg room.I read and understand that I might need spacers made for passenger side. My main question is can I use the tracks that are on the seats already or have to refab or get Maverick ones thanks guys for any help(y) Eric Johnson:party3:

Since your car is a 76, your best (not easiest) bet, is to find the bucket seat brackets for a 76 & up. Your floor has a hump for the converter, so it is not the same as earlier Mavericks & Comets. Anything can be made to work, all depeding upon you skills.
Do a search on the subject, it's been discussed many times.

Yea thanks Dave I have been reading and was just wondering if the year mustang the seats were out of had a hump for converters also, guess I will keep reading until I find out what year seats they might be,and if I need to make any parts for them, before I take bench out and have to sit on bucket while fabricating parts.

Pretty much all Ford bucket seats from the 70-80's and some 90's have the same basic seat bottom. It's the brackets that'll get you.
I had a set of 76 bucket seat brackets, that I pulled from a Stallion (rot box) years ago, I have no idea where they are....

The bolt holes should be 13 inches front-to-back for Mav tracks to bolt up. The width should be 14 inches between holes to be a bolt-in using Maverick seat tracks.

A lot of Ford buckets from the 70s til now use this pattern. The seat tracks are the difficult part.

One exception to this bolt pattern was what I found was in a Granada. The passenger seat tracks would have worked in your 76, the outer rail was identical to early LDO and the inner would work with an extra seat hole drilled in it. The power driver tracks, however, were way off, as was the pattern in the seat bottom ... very weird, like they sourced it from a non-Ford and adapted it. A couple of bars of flat steel across the top could have adapted it.

Due a search on new seats for mavdog.

I installed 97 mustang seats in my 71 on LDO seats tracts .

The 97 seats are 1'' wider then the 71 seats.

    I used 11/2'' x1/2'' rectangler tubing .065 wall drilled and sleved .

Mounted the out side tract on the seat as it should be and the in side tract 1'' inboard to mach mounting in floor.

Look at pic you will see how I did it .

You will need to cut and weld the seat adjuster and move closer to the seat .

    Hope this helps Jay

they will fit in a 73 easier than a 76 from what I have been reading because of the floor pan where converter is.They have seat rails with them I wish they would just bolt in,middle of winter & 5 degrees out,I will wait

IIRC, somebody on here reshaped their floor on a cat car to help with the seat install. If you are not running a cat, you might be able to take a bfh and reshape the hump down somewhat to make them fit better. Maverick tracks are probably the only ones that will fit without a little modding the floor holes and spacers to fit.
