I'm a new member and I just built a 302 for my 1970 maverick, changed the oil pan and oil pump pick up tube to front sump, know new oil pan is hitting sump. What can I do to make oil pan fit? Thanks in advance for any help!

Is the pan hitting the pickup screen or is it hitting the bottom of the pump?
Usually if its hitting the pump housing, you just clearance the pan with a hammer.Or grind down the offending bolt head a bit.
Make sure the screen is not resting on the bottom of the pan, it needs to be up off the bottom of the pan floor about 1/2".

It appears to be hitting the screen

You may have the wrong pickup or a cheap aftermarket pan thats too shallow.
Worst case, you have to cut/shorten the tube on your existing pickup and re-weld it to get the height right.Often you just bend the tube to get the screen off the floor...Just be sure to keep the screen paralell to the pan floor and not too close.A 1/2" is a good distance.Who is the manufacturer of the parts you have???

if you went from a rear sump pan to a front sump pan you have to change the pick up also. most autoparts stores have the stock front sump pick up in stock.
