out of curiosity, what are the bumper with the two vertical rubber bumpers on them called? are they a maverick bumper?
do you know if they were available all years? I have a set. reason I ask is cuz my car is a 71, hood apparently is a 77..., no holes for back bumper. front bumper fits fine. Trying to figure out if my bump will even work for my year once I drill holes for it. -if it's a reasonable assumption I'm just gonna try it.
not sure what years the bumper guard option was available? I do know that the bumpers that have the bumper guards on them came from the factory with the mounting holes predrilled.
looks like 1971 was the first year you could get bumper gaurds. Go to the Chronology section on this website http://www.fordmaverick.com/ its part of the "Maverick Protection Group"
I am guessing you are talking about the bumper guards like these but on a set of early model small bumpers?
u got it. just like those but small bumpered. The bumper came with mounting hardware and holes... the car just doesn't have holes for it. I'll figure it out. Wanted to make sure I wasn't gonna try and do something everyone else knows better than to do. - if ya knows whats I mean.
probably wont really matter but i think the bumpers without any holes are worth slightly more $ because most people want the completly smooth ones
My 72 Comet came with them. Here's a pic ... I had them on the rear bumper originally, but found a nice smooth replacement. I will be taking the front ones off, too. I prefer the way these cars look without the guards.
yea, that looks like mine. I kinda like the guards. I think all black bumpers like that on a black car would look pretty mean.
My 72 had them on it as well. I still have the guards even though the bumpers are long gone. I originally filled the holes in the bumpers with stainless steel plugs that I got from Ace Hardware to cover them up.
