These are the wheels I'm thinking of getting.

Everything on my suspension is stock or stock replacement except the laurel mountain upper control arms. I think these will work from reading other threads. Anyone see any problems with backspacing or have reviews from owning a set of these?

Just got off the phone with laurel mountain and they said that with the 67-73 mustang upper controls arms they sell that I have to have a smaller than 8inch tire width. I was trying to do 15x8's. Will this cause a problem that backspacing can't fix?

That's one thing I don't understand. I've been talking to these rim shops asking about size wheels that will fit but we never go into tire size... I haven't got that far yet I guess? It's hard enough finding the rims that I didn't know what size I was gonna get... was looking 14x8 - 16x8 maybe a 15x10 in there but 15x8 was ideal. Thinking tires from there. I guess I more don't know what to ask when I'm on the phone with these dealers. any tips and any of this stuff?

if you get the rear back spacing just right you should be able to fit a 255/60-15 in the rear. i am not sure on what the right back spacing is but i think that the 3.75 that you were looking at is really close. up front im only guessing but i would think that a 225/60-15 would fit nicely on a 6 inch wide wheel up there with a 3 inch back spaceing.

so u're thinking only go 6 inch up in the front. don't think I can do the same 8's all the way around? -yea.. I'm not trying to get the biggest tire I can fit, just to look decent and ride well.

i think you can put a 8 inch wheel up front but i dont think that the same size tire will fit. what happens in the front is when you turn the wheel, the tire can hit the front valance or the inside frame rails. this is a situation where you have to trial fits some different wheel and tire combinations or find somebody on this site that has done that. i run skinny wheels for dragracing on the front so i dont know how big you can go. on the rear i run 275/60-15s. i rolled the fender lips and pushed the fender out about an inch. now they only rub when i hit a really bad bump or dip.

good call on advice from ppl on the fronts. These 4 lug dudes are hard as hell to find. This is actually only the 3rd set in 3 months that I've found that would work. Trial and error isn't an option. no front valence yet so that should make it easier. and I still have to cut the coils haha. Thanks for the help man. Wanna get these babies in before I get a flat (then I'm screwed :yikes:)

you could get the rears for now. then test fit them on the front and see how they fit, where they touch and what changes you would need to order the fronts.

I had 8 inch rims on the front of my 73 with moderate backspacing and they hit the valence when I was making turns. I traded the 8's to someone that wanted them for the back of their car and put 6's on the front and they fit great.

I think you can get 8 inch wheels on the front if you use the correct backspacing but I couldn't tell you exactly what backspacing that is?

Got to run a short tire up front with 8's. I'm running 215/60/15 with no rub, when I had the 225/70/15 up front, they rubbed the valance on turns. I'm lowered 1 coil, so that adds to it.....
