I don't recall what this wire is for - 1970 car. :hmmm:

It is the blue one in the picture - located down by the heater box wiring.

Will have to look tomorrow. I see in the diagrams there is a blue wire with a red trace for a floor shifter indicator lamp. Did they even put floor shifters into Mavericks in 1970? My car is a June build, and does have some of the 1971 engineering changes. Maybe that wire was for future use?

If I had to guess I would say it is for the clock in the consolette. As there is nothing else that goes down there that I know of.

My best guess, based on my notes and that it's blue, is either accessory lights (like clock, heater, gear select, ashtray light), or, if it was heavier gauge it would be cigar lighter. My car doesn't have a clock, but I'd expect one to go in the console (-ette?), in the same general area? If it was clock it would have power when car is off and would come off the hazard flasher circuit. Now my experience is from '71 so the colors might be whack but it's an easy check to see if it's clock.

    Thank you. :)

Blue for different accesories and lamps - that fits in with my thinking it's for the clock.

For a '72 model, blue with red tracer is illumination power (believe it dims with the headlight switch rotary control) and blue with white tracer is cig lighter (12V battery). Prolly the same for you car...

I looked at it - solid blue color. Too short to reach anything down there next to the carpet. Once I get a battery back in it, I'll be able to tell if it is powered all the time (clock) or turns on with the lights (floor shifter.

Thanks for all the input ....... (y)

Wires too short to get near the radio or anything else up near the dash. It is a non-A/C car.

I've never seen a consolette with a clock....(in person) but it would be nice to know if that's the wire.

It looks like a "light" wire to me. I would imagine that the consellete clock would have it own wiring harness that runs off of an auxilliary wiring harness to the fuse box, or at least plugs into existing wires in the harness. I can't imagine these cars were wired up at the factory in case it got a consellete. All cars were wired up for a lighter.....whether it got one or not.

So is it HOT all the time? Just come on with the lights only?

My consolette is out of the car and has a clock. The harness coming from the unit is a three wire plug. The harness from the dash is coming from the left side above the columm. Could this be for an dealer added light for under the dash?

If it was dealer added it wouldn't be in the factory harness

What I was trying to say was this is where the Dealer would plug in the lights or accessory that they would have been adding...
