Every time I hit, even a small imperfection in the road, I get a bang through the whole car. I have replaced shocks, strut rod bushings,sway bar bushings, end links. motor mounts, trans mount, front and rear rear spring bushings. Could it be spring perches? control arm bushings? Body to frame bushings? ( I don't even know if there is such a thing) It is VERY annoying. any ideas are welcome.
I just had my upper ball joints replaced and bingo that was what was making the banging sound, maybe that is what it is for you.
My $ is on the upper control bushings. Get some grease in them and see if it makes any difference. Depending on wear it could quiet down for a awhile or not hardly at all.
Ball Jts were new a few 100 miles ago. A arm bushings are original (i.e. old). I guess i am off to pull a wheel. It's a beautiful day outside. I need to get out there. Thanks guys
I installed brand new Total Control upper and lower control arms on my car and found that both ball joints where busted. The lower was making a terrible banging sound as the suspension moved with the undulations of the road. I replaced both of them with barely any miles on them. Problem solved.
