Being retired helps with the motivation!! My wife wishes I had the same motivation for jobs around the house.
Nice work! Please keep posting pics. Someday I'll be going through my Sprint and this is great motivation!
Paint Progress I had hoped to have the paint done before the NC weather got too cold but didn't get there. Had a lot of problems with the spray gun till I found a plugged vent. So, progress was held up for a while. Body has received two coats of Eastwood epoxy primer and two coats of NASON single stage urethane color. All but the last coat were block sanded. I'll do one more coat after the doors, hood, fenders, front valence and trunk lid are re-installed. Picture shows my "paint booth". I'm holding my fresh air supply made from old SCUBA gear. Regulator is attached to a rotating boom that's plumbed to a tank in the corner. Works. Actually I've done most of the painting outside but think that's over till Spring. The final coat will definitely be done inside regardless of the weather. The hood, trunk lid, and front valence also have two primer and two color coats. Got one door primed with 2 color coats inside and out. The other door is ready for primer. Haven't touched the fenders yet. One has a small dent I have to work on. Stone guard is done with Eastwood satin Chassis Black. The good news is the paint is far enough along tha I can install the head liner, 302 HO, and Broader Performance 500 HP Street/Strip C4. May do the engine and tranny when the fenders are done. Sure would make it easier to move the car in and out of the shop.
Glad to see some pigment on the car. I've seen Mr. Arnold's 'paint booth' in person as well as his trick items for painting. The man does have imagination. I'd still like to see that rust remover in action. Seth
Thanks for the encouragement, guys. I'm trying to ignore the posts on disk brakes, rack and pinion, sway bars, Econoline rear springs, limited slip rear ends, ... Gotta FOCUS on Stage 1.
Looks great. Nice to see a guy doing the work himself, paint and all. I love the paint booth. Dont let that wife of yours distract you and sucker you into the house chores.
Yep, do-it-yourself is a big part of the fun for me. The wife has put up with me for 47 years and counting. She's a keeper. Guess I'd better go empty the dishwasher.
man this gives me so much to look foward to! thanks for posting. im in the final stage of deconstruction on the susp.and im a do it yourselfer too.this reminds me that i got to keep focased.thats going be a verry nice clean sprint.
Cars looking good JS!!! Love the fresh air supply apparatus...Very crafty, makes me want to tear my sprint down...Gotta finish the blue one first though.Once again, very nice work there...
Thanks, Mavman. I hope all the guys on the forum are taking proper precautions if they're spraying urethane. The isocyanates in the catalyst are DEADLY.
