hello friend i want change my rear end, but i dont know if my diff is a 8", 8.8" or a 9", like 5 years ago my mechanic changed gear, it was a 3.73 relation but i dont know diameter and im planning some mods, like limited slip but i need to know that coul you help, it doest have a tag and i dont want and dont have time, to disarm it and buy the respective part, y hope you could help me, if you want i could send pictures of my diff, thank a lot
This should be in the technical section. But if the rear end is the original it is an 8" most likely. The only ones that weren't were the real early ones, like 69 and 70. They can be identified by the back plate of the rear end. If the rear end comes out from the front it is an 8".
its the original mexican rear end, i dont have the tag that was in the back plate, years ago when i changed gears from 3.0 to 3.73, i remember the inner diameter of the ring was more than 8" and the outer diameter were less than 9", could it be an 8.8? i dont know, thanks for your answer i hope with this add you may coment me more
If your rear has a removeable rear cover, it's not an 8 or 9 inch rear. It'll be something else that can be identified by the shape and bolt count of the rear cover.
i have taken photos, i could mail them to you, yes is a removeable rear cover, with ten bolts, its the original mexican for maverick, the car was bought by my father back then in the 77 im his 2nd owner, and my father kept it all original.
He sent me the pics, looks like a Dana 44 to me. I tried to post em on here but can't seem to find the link to em when I tried. Found a Dana 44 under a 72 LTD once too.
