I wasnt quite sure where to put this question, but this seemed like the best place. I have an Explorer 8.8 that i plan to install in my '70 Mav. My question is this: If the explorer rear is 3.25" wider than a Maverick rear (59.75 compared to 56.5 correct me if im wrong) than a 10" wheel with 6.5" of backspacing should fit correct? I'm going to be running 275/60/15 drag radials and like the bigger contact patch the 10" wheel provides over a 8" wheel. Does this sound like it will work?

theres a good chance that you will have to roll the fender lips and even push them out a bit to fit those tires. i have them on a 8" rim and had to roll the lips and push the fenders out about and aditional 1" to keep from rubbing.

What rear end are you running, and what is the backspacing on your wheels? I figured fender rolling would be needed anyway.

how wide the wheel is has nothing to do with the...contact patch... it just baloons the side wall on the tire...if it's wider than the tire bead. this will also cause the tire sidewall to rub on the...leaf springs...:yup:
    i have...275/60/ on 8x15 rims...no roll of fender 3.5 back spacing.

    ...Frank...:chirp:

Sorry for the poor terminology. I understand the effect of the section width. 275's just seem to work better in a racing situation on 10" wheels, but that's just my opinion and it aint worth a whole lot lol!

i have a 9" that is 57 1/4" wide (65 mustang width). i just dont rember what my back spacing is but on the origanial mav diff the tires were rubbing on the inside when i hit bumps or dips. with the wider diff they rubbed very bad on the out side till i pushed the fenders out. i have 8" weld draglites. i think the offset is 4"s but i am not sure.

Well if I can come up with a set of leaf spring pads in the next couple days we'll know for sure if they fit!
