I just got through installing another oil pressure line on my mav because the old one developed a small hole and when I fired it up I noticed a little oil in the line... is that normal?
There is NO leaks though which is what I was looking for, everything looked good. although the oil goes partially through the line and not all the way to the gauge which makes me think it has to do with pressurization of the line. Let me know what you think. and yes I know copper is better than plastic and electric is safer but hey plastic is installed... thanks.

some air in the line is needed to make the gauge work, so if it shows good pressure you don't have a problem.

You can bleed most air out of the line at the gauge. With engine running, crack fitting at gauge, make sure you have rag to catch oil, bleed till you see solid oil in line.

Sorta answered your self here with hole in plastic. Ten bucks can get you hooked on the copper an you wont find any break downs on the road with no oil. Most race tracks will send you home till you install copper. When I was first starting to drive, many moons ago, it took two lines till I was sold on copper! Good Luck

PS, if your needle fluctuates, most times it the air in line doing that
