I'm looking at buying a remanufactured 150 amp 3G alternator that has been modified to a 1 wire type set up. This is an Ebay item.

Even though this has a warranty, any thoughts on buying remanufactured opposed to something new?

Is there such a thing as choosing a too high of amperage alternator?
I am running an electric fuel pump, Spal electric fan, possibly an electric water pump along with momentary accessories like power door accuators/ windows/locks/trunk.

    Thanks

I dont think amps really matter when it comes to "Do I have too much", Im not sure though.

As far as new/remanufactured...all electrical components are replaced in an alternator when a core is remanufactured...so the only thing that hasnt been replaced is the case and possibly the pulley, its basically new.

Ive always bough reman. alts. and never had a problem with any of them.

I don't think that I ever bought a new alternator in my life. I always bought remanufactured ones for my daily drivers and never had any problems but I bought ones that had the same amps as the old one.
I forgot to add that I'm running an MSD box plus the new style headlights so I would guess that a high amp alternator is definetly needed here.

Yeah I would advise it, you may also need to replace the wires with a heavier gauge, someone else could probably verify if you have to first.

Right now I have every harness out of the car and all the wires show their 31 year old age. I was going to rebuild every harness with new and better wire.

That, in fact, might be a really nice winter project :dancing:
