i have a 72 maverick grabber that came with a 200cid engine. anybody know what size rearend is in it? 7.5, 8, etc. im trying to plan out what im gonna do the car in terms of gear ratio and the car is at my parents house and i havent had time to go and find out. any help would be appreciated
It's an 8 inch with most likely 2.79:1 gears. It could be 3.00:1. It is probably a 4 lug rear also. -Corbin
If it has a rear cover access like GM rearends then it is the small junky rearend. it was common with 200 and 170 CI motors. The eight inch will have a pumpkin that removes just like a 9 inch.
The 7.5 rear (removable back cover) was only put in the very early 70 model cars. Every Maverick from then on and all Comets have an 8" rear.
