With the relatively low compression engine in the 9 to 9.5 range, there is no pinging even on regular gas and the acceleration is fun, so no, there is nothing wrong with how it runs. That is why I was wondering if the light was messed up or getting interference.

What model or type of snapon light are you using that works with MSD? It is the type of tool that I would be willing to spend money on.

My old one was a decent sears induction model which cost me a bit. But somehow I broke the spring loaded induction pickup and it really needs to be replaced.

X2 Thats what i use. Id have the curve in that distributor set or locked out. It only needs to be 15 or 20 degrees of advance.

Got a new light, and it is reading more realistic numbers.

idle at 8, distributor at 26, vacuum at around 50.

I also have an older Sears light I got at a yard sale years ago. It worked with the MSD box I once had.
Your timing looks pretty good but I run a lot more initial on my 460. I am running about 18 initial and 38 total minus the vacuum.
I have less compression than you do though. I bet I could almost run kerosene in this truck engine and not get a single ping. lol

I used to run around 14 initial, but everyone said anything over 8-10 is wasted. But I may jack it up on the dyno and find out for sure.

My compression is relatively low, so I have never had a ping issue.
