Just got this email. Happy, happy day!!! Hello everyone. I just wanted to take a minute and send those that voiced their opinion over the last year (yes, I’ve saved all of your emails) that beginning with the January 2010 issue we are “returning to our roots” with a format change back to an all classic Mustang/Ford magazine. Our upcoming content change will be like the old Mustang & Fords, but will be “beefing up” the tech with more comparative and “shootout” type of stories. These do take time, and budget, things we’re short on. But we will do our best. For car features you will NOT see any late-model Mustangs (or their ads). Our features will range from nice weekend drivers with a few updates to full-on show cars, as we have in the past. For those that pick us up on the newsstand from time to time you may have seen that the After Hours section and the models have been gone since the August 2009 issue. It took me a while, but with a sound argument and a couple of spreadsheets to back it up, they’re out of here. Also, while it was named “Heasley Files” Jerry Heasley’s column was almost always about a rare find, so, we did the smart thing and renamed the column Rare Finds. I do hope you’ll take a look at our January issue, which will be on newsstands December 1st. Our December issue also has my editorial column in it explaining the changes in more detail if you are interested and that goes on sale next week. We are keeping the larger magazine format, full color, and the nice paper stock we are currently printed on (easier on the eyes and the photos look so much better!) Please help us spread the word to your fellow enthusiasts at your club meetings, favorite cruise ins, and web forums. Thanks for your time and for being so passionate about YOUR magazine. Having these comments and opinions to place in front of management about this merger last year really helped our case to go back. It’s because of readers like YOU, they listened and we’re getting our classic content back! Finally, my apologies if you get this email twice. I went through the whole folder of emails, manually copying and pasting the email addresses in, so if you sent me a note more than once, you might get this email twice. All the best... I refused to renew when they went to the new format...but, I signed up again this summer after seeing Shawn Simpson's feature. Good job Mustang & Fords!
I too didn't renew after change, will look at new mag if I can find it, was my favorite mag for many years
Just bought a 09 GT Mustang, Grew up in a 69 Mach I and a 74 Grabber. Ford did a great job of combining the modern and classic, Too bad theyr'e shifting to an ALL classic. Read it through a friend, I like it the way it is. was thinking about subscribing, Thanks for the heads up on the change. Guess you cant please everyone, but the 09 comes close. KpL
Many folks bailed out when they started covering mostly new models. It's nice to see they went back to what made them unique.
Don't ask me how I did it but when I picked up my car 2 weeks ago I found Mustangs and Fords on the shelf at the store. The issue I bought was October 2009! Any way I was noticing the difference in content between that one and the January 2010 issue I bought and this explains what I was seeing. I'm subscribing!
