You can pick it up anywhere. Try Summit.

both systems will give you good perfomance. the pertronics is compact and doesnt add anything out side the distrubor. the duraspark has a large external box that is not the prettyest thing. to goto the duraspark you need the box and dist. if you buy them new it may cost more than the pertronics.

Thanks for the replies. BTW, went to the pertronix site but they seem to carry a whole mess of different setups. Which would be the right one for a i6 200?

For the I-6 200 - just use the standard model Pertronix #1261 -- it is an outstanding value and very easy to install. It will work perfectly fine with a stock coil. For 1974 cars and older.

Be careful to use the coil they say to use with the Pertronics. Coils will burn out if not the right one.
When going with pertronics you need to be sure that the old distributer is in good shape. One benefit with going with a rebuilt Dura-Spark is the rebuilt part of it. If your old distributer is worn out you will still have ignition based trouble.

There's a place on ePay that sells Pertronix really cheap. The instructions that come with it will tell you how to measure your coil to make sure the primary resistance is correct.

I don't think the choice of coil is really strict. It is not like you have to buy the pertronix then shop around for a special coil.

I had an Accel Super Stock coil from O'Reilly's in the car to begin with, swapped points for Pertronix, and been fine ever since. THEN added MSD last week, and running even better now with .060 spark plug gaps!!! All on a stock replacement distributor from O'Reilly's.

The coil has to have a minimum resistance as stated in the Pertronix instructions or the module will overheat and die. IIRC, for the Ford V8 module the coil has to have 1.5 ohms primary resistance. Obviously this only matters if the module is directly switching the coil, if you're using the Pertronix to switch an ignition box the coil resistance doesn't matter.

Looks all stock - voltage regulator looks like a store brand replacement - but still all OEM specification stock stuff.

    :yup:

But is it good ol points or good ol electronic? Cause the 74 Mavs, that stuff was optional.

    Cheers!

The mav is gone but i'm still here!
Look at the area below the windshield washer reservoir if you see a box then its electronic. 0n the falcon we used the dizzy and module from a 74 mav with an accell super stock coil and its flawless. starts up better and no more adjusting the damn points. lt was only $25 using junkyard parts.
