yeah i'm tearing my comet down this winter so it probley wont be on the road for couple of years. i would love to have it back on the road next summer and thats my goal but it will all come down to how much money i can spend on it.
Can anyone figure HOpilots response? If it’s a cut or chop please keep it to yourself. Thanks, Rando coming from a multiple Maverick owner that means a lot you guys just West of and East the Mississippi River seem to have all the nicer cars and access to great deals on cars and parts. I'm still in the process of making mine nicer. I didn’t expect anything from the show myself, but my nephew's taken an interest in cars upgrading and painting them although he likes Hondas. He seems to be finally staying out of trouble with the law. I’m fighting off Congestive Heart Failure and doing pretty good now. However you never know with heart problems. I’ve told him if he stays out of trouble it’s his if or when I die. He's not afraid of tinkering and enjoys working on his cars rather drive them until they die. Heck I'll leave it to him regardless.
Sorry, I just read your comment I'm not dogging your 4-4-2 It Very Was Nice! I just think as others did there, most original should go to the less desirable and more affordable common man’s car that most Americans could afford and drive to work daily with no thought on collectability. In reality the Valiant or Furry whichever it was should have won most original I’m sorry you were offended mister let it go. But What kind of car show announces before giving the prizes announces This is how we judge them, We judge them as the car I’d most like to take home tonight. The majority of both viewers and owners there would have taken the Shelby’s, Mustangs Corvettes and Cameros. Me I’m for an old box body Chevy II, 64-65 Falcon, or Comet and yes an early 4-4-2 or 64-65 Fury. Again Sorry I’m sure you’re a decent guy and jealousy is something I just don’t have about cars or women. Please don’t sound like a guy I went to school with he had a 75 Comet Gt I didn’t know him or this he was going the other way. I told my friend hey that’s a nice car when we were out and about and saw him. I didn’t know my friend knew him and then told him hey my friend really likes your car. He arrogantly tells my friend “Well that’s just tough.” Huh I had a 72 Comet GT a lot nicer and faster than his I just like Mavs/Comets the cars that were forgotten or lost in time until recently.
Wow has this thread gotten nasty, come on guys go to a car show look at the cars and have fun, it's all good. You guys are worried about it being original, hell i need a paint job in the worst way and have no chance in hell of ever winning an award for me Comet. Enjoy the shows- really life's to short for this stuff.
I don't think there was anything "nasty" about my post. I was not chastising your car. You've got alot of nerve telling me to "Let it go". You're the one that started this by posting what you did. I apologize for the duplicate posts but for some reason my original never showed up so I re-posted and all the sudden they're both there.....Anyway, like I said in my original post, I LIKED your Comet. I got my first comet when I was 15 years old. I have a fond admiration for these cars. I did not, nor will I, talk trash on your car. Obviously you didn't feel the same, probably thinking I would never see your post. Once again, my car is a Hurst\Olds, not a 442. I drive it all the time. To me, that's the funnest part of owning a car like this. Yes it is a rare special edition and not your run-of-the-mill Cutlass or 442, but that's what makes it unique. Each to his own. I still don't think you're getting the point. Our class was 70's original. Yes, there were other cars there that were "original", like the two mopars parked nearby, but they had flaws. My car is not perfect by any means and I don't consider it concourse, but it didn't have some of the flaws those cars had. You said, "The majority of both viewers and owners there would have taken the Shelby’s, Mustangs Corvettes and Cameros." Maybe that's because most of the people there owned Shelby's, Mustangs, Covettes and Cameros.....And please don't compare me to some jerk you had a bad experience with in high school. You have a great car. I see it on the base all the time. Not sure how many car shows you've attended in Utah, but most of the time the winners are picked on the judges favorite, irregardless how nice they are. I'm originally from Missouri where the car shows were different. The winning cars were actually judged on their quality, not just because some guy judging had one when he was 18. I miss those days. The majority of Utah car shows live up to their reputation where the saying goes, "If it ain't a Camaro, Mustang, Corvette, or Mopar, you ain't got a chance in hell".
Do 4 more posts and then you can post a picture of your OLDS , i really do want to see it. And i'm sure it is nice, at least nicer then my old beater.
Yes he has a very nice olds like I said in a previous post you literally had to wade through all the mustangs and camaros to find a decent car, I think there were about 30 67-69 camaros parked all around his car and his was the only one that stood out in the group.
Well i see that our shows up here are not the only ones with the massive amount of 67'to'69 Camaros all parked in a row, i'm to the point that their mostly invisible to me.
