Today, I attended the Lake Mirror Festival in Lakeland, Fl. It was the fourth one I have had the pleasure of attending and, as usual, had a great time. This show has it all, 20+ blocks of the downtown filled with hot cars and hot rods, concours'd'elegance cars around the lake, aquacars in the lake, wooden Chris Craft boats in the lake, antique motorcycles, tuxedoed waiters, and much more. This show has it all. Well, I was walking through the cars when I spotted a bright yellow car in the distance. It looked like a Comet or Maverick. Closer observation revealed a beautiful '71 Comet GT from Orlando. First time I had seen one at this show. The owners were near by. Turns out he is mrcomet on the forums. Super nice people. We chatted for some time. I went back and got my camera and took some pictures of the car and we went to the local BBQ place for lunch. Funny how a simple thing like a car can bring people together. Anyway, I would just like to say that A GOOD TIME WAS HAD BY ALL!!! They are signed up for Silver Springs, so we will have to do it all again! Jim
Sorry, Brad, I only had a disposable camera with me with 5 shots left and 4 of them were of the Comet GT. Maybe mrcomet has some pics of the show. I saw his lovely mate taking pictures with their digital camera. By the way, the weather was perfect, a little on the windy side, but temps were in the 70's. Over 500 classics, plus the concours REAL expensive ones. I drove home with the top down on my '73 Stang conv. Jim
