I'm gonna start putting together the parts I need for a nitrous setup. I have a low compression 302 that's stock. I have stock ignition with only Pertronix upgrade from the old points, I have an edelblock 1406 carb and mechanical fuel pump.
What kit can I purchase to start out with and what things will I need to do to the engine for the upgrade? Bryant and I were looking at a few options in the Jegs catalog, wanted to see what everyone else has to add.

I like the NX kit I just instlled on my lil bros car. Adjustable from 100 to 200 hp.
IMO opinion I would go with no more than a 100 shot on stock engine.

One question: Why? Are you going to take this car to the drag strip and race it?

LOL craig. that is technically 2 questions ;P

IMO, if you are running stock compression, stock motor you should go supercharged.

ok so here is the master plan (it's all Bryant's fault):
I have never had nitrous and wanna tinker around with it and definitely wanna take it out to drag. I am not quite ready financially for a supercharger but that's the ultimate plan. There is a 331 in the near future and that will get the supercharger fo shizzle!

I think I'll be pretty safe up to 150 from the research I've done. I'm not trying to blow the engine up or anything so I was thinking of something that'll allow me to adjust it in the 50-150 range.

Any suggestions on other kits? Bryant, which kit did you recommend again? I'm looking into that NX kit too.

I gotta wait for the funds to come in. Got some credit cards I wanna pay off first, don't like being in debt. But as soon as I do I'll jump on that supercharger . . . but nothing wrong with a little juice for cheap in the meantime! :thumbs2::thumbs2:

the nos powershot kit. that one should cover the power range your looking at. in addition the the nitrous kit you should get a high capasity fuel pump (eletric or mechanical) and a fuel pressure regulator, and a timeing retard.

My goal definitely is to have a supercharger. I thought in the meatime I would have a little fun with nitrous. I mean, when you look back do you wish you had gone with a supercharger to begin with or don't you think it was at least nice having tried nitrous out for a while? I really wasn't thinking of putting in close to $900, that kinda made me think but I'd really like to try nitrous out.

I didn't see a Low Fuel Pressure Shut-Off Switch (Hobbs), to shut off the nitrous in case the fuel pressure drops off in either kit.

Nor did I see an RPM window switch to prevent dumping nitrous into your engine at low rpms (bogging) or at high rpms (broken drive train).

Even though those items cost, both could save you a lot of $ and headache down the road (and actually cause you a lot of headache with potential wiring problems and just plain component failure).

    Racing w/ Nitrous ain't cheap.

    My :2cents:
