kinda what i was thinking too....

but you'll get all kinds of opinions on oil brands. i personally run Castrol and have for yrs. it's all i run in anything i have, whether it's a 4cyl Ranger or my built 351w when im done.

i like Castrol the most, then second would be Pennzoil. but then again, i doubt there's anything wrong with running Motorcraft brand if so enclined...

I use Castrol in all my vehicles except my '89 Chevy truck. It burns a quart of 20w50 every 150 miles, so I just buy the cheapest I can find for it. It burns so much oil, I don't bother changing the oil in it, just the filter every 5,000 miles. LOL

I will never use Penzoil. In my gas vehicles I use Valvoline. I have also used Amsoil and Mobil synthetics. My diesel gets Rotella T.

    WOW!

I am surprised that so many of us use Castrol GTX. I have gravitated toward it over the years, with motorcraft filters. Usually 10-w30.

I find it interesting that many of us have ended up using the same stuff.

What caused this gravitation toward these products?

I also use a quart of lucas (in my new motor, trans, and rear), but I am on my first oil change in all three. Will the lucas pay off in the long run? It IS kinda pricey...

Believe me the lucas pays off big time,I about burned up my navigator towing this summer to where the motor knocked every morn for 5 min after start up due excessive piston/cylinder wall clearance, knowing i had nothing to lose except 10.00 i put it in...never has knocked since,Saved me several thousand in rebuilding..Very good stuff.
