Well 2 years ago this Thanksgiving.(This weekend for us Canucks) I ventured across the border into Michigan with trailer in tow to check out the Mav. After 3 hours at the border cause I just couldnt wait another week to go and get it. What kind of an idiot goes across the border on a holiday weekend to look at a car. That would be me and my poor brother that I dragged along for the road trip. Then the nice American border guard tells me that our Canadian website is wrong and I have a 3 day waiting period to export the car. Ok'd the deal with the owner and came home with an empty trailer. Had to go down a week later after the paper work and pick it up. Funny thing was I got the same American border guard and the same Canadian guard both trips. They had a good laugh that I actually had a car on the trailer this time and really added to the story of purchasing my car. Brought it across the AMerican side around 11 pm and the guard recognized me right away standing in line. He walked over to me grabbed me by the arm and says you can come with me sir. Walked me past the other people in line and straight over to his window to get the car inspected and get me across the border. I think they thought I was getting arrested. He was a really good guy. When I stopped at the Canadian side the same guard as last time looks at me and the trailer and starts laughing. Nice to see you got a car this time he says. Didnt even want to se my ID he remembered me very well. As pissed off as I was the first weekend I couldnt bring it home it was still a lot of fun and an interesting story.
Glad you got it buddy, and look at it now, wow! I think your Maverick is one of the nicest and coolest cars i have seen. Happy Anniversary.
Cars do come and go but the story always stays the same. That's a good one. Happy anniversary...grpnanadance:
