Would you rather have? -A plain jane 71 grabber with grabber hood, spoiler, bench seats, column shifter -A non grabber 71 with bucket seats, floor shifter, deluxe panels, and added grabber hood and spoiler
I would rather have the non Grabber, to me a Grabber is not a Grabber without the deluxe door panels, floor shifter and bucket seats, but then I might be a little one sided since that is what my 72 non Grabber is minus hood and spoiler which I have but opted not to clone it. I am not saying that I dont appreciate the Grabbers without those options its just my personal preference
a Grabber is nothing but stripes and a different number in the VIN..... so i'd prefer an optioned 'plane jane' 2dr anyday
Thats exactly how i feel. My 71 has bucket seats deluxe door panels and floor shifter. Im going to put on a grabber hood because i really like them but probably not the spoiler.
I like a plain jane mostly because if i want to change it or the colour in any way i can and not be screwing up a special edition Maverick or Comet.
I went with the non grabber choice purely because it already has most of what I would want in the car. Either way, it's your car. Build it the way YOU want it & enjoy driving it. If someone else doesn't like it, they don't have to look at it or ride in it. -Scott H.
You can easily add buckets seats and deluxe door panels... and the Grabber will alaways be worth more in the end.
I picked the grabber for resale value, the cost of adding interior would be less than the extra value IMO it would have at resale , I assume both would have the same v8, 10 in. brakes etc that a 71 v8 grabber has
A Grabber will always be a Grabber, regardless of the options. A Maverick can be made into anything you want using any options you want, but without that "93" in the vin, it's not a Grabber. I have 3, so I'm happy. I've never really owned a Maverick, that wasn't a Grabber, I have had 2 comets both bought for parts cars. If you were an option collector, a 2door with buckets and floor shift, non-Grabber would be different, but in the end, it's just a Maverick.
The real question is: What do you want and why are you building it? Are you building it to enjoy or for value?
