347 If your gonna spend the money.
As for the Mod motor...LOTS of work to get one in a mav.Think M II front suspension at the very least to get it in the car...

Why do a 5.4 when a 331 is the same cubes in a smaller (much smaller) package ?

There are 2 different pin height/compression height pistons for the 347.Depending on which one you use you will or wont have oil problems.
Runner size depends on what you want to rev it to and weather you plan on it having any street manners with the cam you need, to take advantage of those heads.

i was thinking of a 347 with trickflow heads. -6 cc flattops and like 60cc heads should put me at 9.8:1 right. edelbrock rpm roller cam with roller lifters. 1.6:1 roller rockers. do a timing gear, and i guess i need to step up to a 750cfm carb. i have a 600cfm one now. if i do i will get one of the airgap intakes too. i have an edelbrock intake now. i want to run zero gap rings also...

what intake size would you recommend?

    thanks
i would be happy for around 375 hp..

on the carb if you go with a double pumper go with the 700 cfm. the 750 has an idle circuit in the secondarys and that just is to much idle circuit for a 347. for the intake i would recomend the performer rpm or the wieand stealth. you could go with the victor jr but they can cause hood clearance problems.

5.4's I know are very tall, much taller than 4.6's due to the intake mostly I think. Plus they are very wide. I think a SOHC will fit in mustangs barely but I doubt in a Mav.
