    Hey,
Im lookin to get a little over 300 at the wheels in my 70. Its got a c4. I called the jegs guy and he said a 302 with the rpm kit including the heads would put me up around there. Then I was told by somebody else that an ignition setup would be another good feature and if setup correctly would give me another 30 or so hp? What do you guys think would be the best setup for my wants??

Two 1973 LDO Mavericks (one 4 Drag one 4 driving like Mad on the roads :) ) also have a 75 6cyl Stock! Ok, well sort of Stock :P
i don't know dude... i really never heard of these packages working to the exact horse power readings by just bolting on stuff. only whole crate motors i've seen put some real claimed numbers down. i mean K&N says just putting on a air filter will gain 15 hp. i doubt it. i think if i totaled the hp numers that company claimed out there for a bolt on... i would have 1000 hp!

i also think it would depend on the rest of the motor to really see what hp you'll really get! and to the hp to the wheels your looking at, at least 350 at the crank! and just because you can get that number don't mean you'll beable to hook the sucker up either. i can spank my friends supra at the track that puts down 800 horses to the wheels! on a roll thats a differant story, he'll leave me like im going backwards! :D

just being a pesimist thats justme ;) but you never know i guess :D

assuming your bottom end is in good shape. heads, intake, carb, exhaust and a good ignition system like MSD or Mallory "should" net you around the HP # you are wanting.
But just buying big "bolt ons" isn't always the best solution, make sure that everything is going to work together. Its better to run a cam, head and intake combo that works together, as opposed to buying heads that the cam can't help.
And maverickman is right, having it and be able to use it is 2 different things!
    Good luck.

I was actually thinking about th edelbrock rpm kit with the heads cam manifold carb and headers. Then the msd ignition. Yet i do not know which ignition setup is a good one and which is bad. I wanted as far as suspension is concerned to get cal tracks and 275 drag radials if they would fit. If anybody has suggestions as to what would be good for suspension to hold down 300 i am completely open because i have little knowledge of it. Thanks a bunch

Whatever you do, you'll appreciate the aftermarket aluminum heads. Mine were worth about 100 HP, give or take (no dyno numbers) over ported stockers with 1.94 valves. I'd use a Factory Duraspark ignition. They work just as good as MSD, if not better....but don't have a limiter like the 6AL does. Just use a good coil and you'll be fine. With that much power, the caltracs will be nice to have for a tuning aid.

Plus you "might" think about changing the rear gear, 3.55 or something like that......if you haven't already done it.
