I never heard of a Grabber Mustang. I always thought that the Maverick was the only Grabber. I just saw it in a magazine tonight, anyone else as ignorant as me?

    Yeah, appearance package in 70....
I think it had to come in one of the "Grabber" colors...
    Correct me if I'm wrong.

I've only seen a couple and yes, they were grabber colors.

That's where "Grabber" came from. It was such a hit, the name stuck.

Had a friend in school had one just like that picture above ( when he got it) by the time we got out of sckool it didn't have a straight panel on it, it was totaly ragged out, I remember it had no grill or front bumper, no hubcaps, and was driven hard every time he left school! I am sure that car doesn't exsist anymore, lol, I have seen a couple more but they were all grabber blue

the grabber mustang also came without the stripe package. A friend had one here and it was grabber green with no stripes. he had the original paperwork showing it was built that way.

As Dave said, the name "Grabber" came from this '70 promotion. There is an article in the current Mustang Monthly magazine about this fact. It was a one year promotion for Mustangs, since it was not ver successful. Only 5,120 were produced. It was also available for the Torino, big fords, even station wagons in '70.

The Maverick was so successful, the name carried on for several years and even got a distinct vin # to denote it as being a Maverick. That is a success story in itself.

Here is an original "Grabber" promotional flyer for the Maverick and Mustang.

They sure did. Here is a picture of mine, although not stock. Mine didn't come with the shaker, 351C, or front spoiler originally, but figured since the shaker and 351 came with the car, I would use them. I plan to get the factory stripes back on it soon. The only way to tell if it was a Grabber originally is with the Marti Report. It has Grabber Special Value Package on it. - Matt
