I actually don't mind getting buried by the guy in the other lane. I was strictly competing against the clock. I ran a 13.26 with my old set up and here I go and upgrade the heads and stick to go 13.4 That irritated the living sh-t out of me. I've always been that way though. I get ridiculously irate and stay seething mad for the longest time when things blow up in my face. Agreed, it was fun and I appreciate all the work J & B put into it. They put together a great event.
The last time I was at the track, I ran 14.40 @95mph. I put in a new transmission (C-4) & the MSD distributor & box. I ran alot slower also. But, Had a great time anyway & did 7 runs. Nothing broke & I was able to drive the car home... I was disappointed at my slow times. But, I didn't let it get to me. I just went with the flow... I'll just have to work at it. I know it can go faster. I have the time slips to prove it. Can't wait for next year...
Looks like a great time....was totally amazed at all the Comets, The Summit all Ford Show in Ga this past July had 11 Mavericks and 1 Comet, that is generally how it is down here in the South, great to see all the Comets
comet155,you were just about ready to do a 12.90 when you baled at the track ,tire presure was set at 12 lbs and with a good burnout to heat up thoughs tires you were good to go ,you should have done that run. I was very sure a huge smile would of been on your face when you came back from that run. To get back on track for this thread ,the NAMCC meet was a GREAT time and a huge success for a main meet that was put together in 6 weeks of planning.Next year will be bigger and better!!!
Jimmy.... I had a blast and what an awesome turnout for the first meet. Everyone I talked to expressed the same thoughts about the day. My only regret is that I had to leave so suddenly! Hopefully next year my boy won't get sick and I can bring him along.... It's HIS car anyways..... well it will be when he turns 16, so I'll be representing him for the next 14 years. We gotta have another meet soon. I don't think I can wait another year for this to happen again... Cheers.
Had an awesome time! Great job Bev & Jimmy! Only complaint was too many Comets(just kidding). Lots of blue Maves though...which was good to see. Was great to finally meet Rob Lutz and see his incredible Comet GT! I have tons of pics that I will post tomorrow(to tired now)...but here is a copy of my time slip(this was with closed exhaust as this was the street class...and I was in the left lane):
They all should have had 5 to 7 time slips ,not just one . Best racer was based on how many wins and how close your gouping was for ETs. Ill post 4 or 5 of mine tomorrow as there still all in the car. Ill say this much ,i won 5 or 6 out of 7 races and my times were 2 tenths apart on almost all of the runs .I lost to a V8 turbo car that was running 10.50 and I think a loss to a 351w with a 100 shot of NOS,but he may of red lighted so i got the win,im not sure of that one..
I was just playing...as I was hunting down a miss between helping out everyone else get there cars tuned! The time slip I posted was my best run of the weekend...and the award that James got was for being the most consistent and perhaps the most wins. My slowest time was a 12.84...the car was missing pretty bad on the top end of the gears..
NAMCC Mega Ford racing video... short clip Hey Dudes!... well, the video capture is as rough as my "camera work"... but they will get better... I need to get a firewire cable next week since I shot in wide aspect. Here's a 'preliminary' clip of some runs...
Whisky ,thanks for the GREAT job with the videos ,you have a talent for this. Next year will have to put you on the payroll if your not racing
We are very happy with the turnout at this years event. Thank-you everyone for attending. It was great to make new friends and to see other friends that we hadn't seen for awhile. It was alot of work but it was worth it in the end. Jimmy worked every night and every weekend to get my car ready(thank -you so much) and it was ready just in time. I didn't race it, but I could show it, and that was good enough for me. There is always next season, until then I'll just rip up the streets getting used to it Jimmy also put in many hours and alot of money getting ready for this event, making sure everything was taken care of from securing prizes, getting trophies and dash plaques made up to seeing everyone that wanted to camp there had a spot for the weekend. He wanted to put on a great event and he succeeded in doing just that. Hope to see all that attended and more at next years Mega Ford!!
Thanks for video it was good so dont sweat it. Three cheers for Jimmy and Bev as I know you both worked hard to make things the most enjoyable that you could and I suspect you went over and above the norm for something like this. Mark my words I will attend next year
