Hey guys, just when you think you have everything figured out someone throws a curveball your way!:hmmm:
This is what I am facing. I am building a Roller 5.0 fuel injected motor for my Mav. I have a fresh bottom end, Fordged pistons, crank turned 10/10, ARP rod bolts and Main Studs with girdle. I will be getting a set of aluminum heads 210 runners .202 in / 1.60 ex valves, 1.6 roller rockers and they will be P&P. I have a 95 Cobra GT40 upper and lower intakes that will be welded up and P&P with a 75mm TB and mass EFI system. I am going to be running a AOD tranny with a 2500-2800 Stall (Street car)and B&M shift kit. I had my heart set on a Ford Motorsports E-303 cam, however after reading several post on mustang forums they really don't like the so-called (letter) cams. I do have the Factory 95 Cobra cam with only 26,000 miles on it. It is in great shape not hurt! So could anyone on here have a better opinion on cam selection? I have been told to use the Cobra cam over the E303:hmmm: When I called Summit the guy recommened the E303 over all of the other cams! What gives? please advise, Thanks Josh

if this is going to be a street engine with lots of driving time, i think you'll be happy with the E303 myself. ive always found the letter cams to be pretty good on the street. not to mention, im almost positive it has more lift than the factory Cobra cam (i can get you the specs if needed). just my thoughts.... :)

I have the specs on both,
    95 Cobra Lift: .282 in. .282 ex.
    duration: 270 in. .270 ex.

    E-303 lift: .311 in. .311 ex.
    duration: 282 in. 282 ex.

the e cam is a good cam. its popular because it is smog leagle on mustangs. there are beter cams out there. you just havent talked to the right people yet. you need to talk to crane cams, comp cams and also call anderson ford. talk to all three of those and you will get some realy good sugestions and information.

Check out Comp Cam's CamQuest software. Its free. I've been messing with it for a while, not sure of its accuracy though.

And I think Crane was bought by S&S Cycle... not sure if they are offering tech help anymore.

The CamQuest software is about 3-5 hp off of the DeskTop Dyno software and I have built a couple engine based of that program and have been very please with it.

There is always debate over the "letter" cams over other company cams. I like the letter cams myself, depending upon the application. And if i remember correctly the FFRP cams are designed to work with GT-40 parts too? I personally like the B303 cam but many do not... To the point I am thinking about putting one in my '86 F-150 4X4. Just do not know how the cam will work with pulling a hot rod!!!?
