    Show and Shine

Just wanted to let everyone know that on Sunday, September 13th at the Mega Ford weekend we will be putting on our own mini show and shine. This event starts at 9:00 and judging will be done by 3:00. Prizes and trophies will be awarded. We will also be providing a BBQ lunch for all show and shine participants. For all of you that are not racing this weekend you will likely have to pay a fee to bring your car into the pits. We will update here as soon as we have this confirmed.

Please do... I was told last year that I could *NOT* cross over because the pit area was too congested (it was 1/2 empty)... their REAL concern is safety... the Galaxie Club (responsible for the Show and Shine) did not reply to my e-mail regarding going onto the grass area for the car show.

I don't wanna spend all day polishing like last year so I could drive out and leave my car in a dusty parking lot 1/2 mile away. It would be nice to have the whole group assembled together.

A week to go!... I anticipate the return of warm sunshine by the weekend...

You are so right! The weather man in the states said mid 80's today & tomorrow. Will be in the mid 70's on Sunday. WooHoo!!!
I'll be heading north in about one hour. As soon as I get off work, & pickup my wife. Then I'll meet up with Paul & we'll caravan north. I'm really excited now. Can't wait to get there. I'll give Jimmy & Cliff a call, when we get to the border.

    Hey James,
Thanks for bust'in a@@ and putting together a great event. The weather was unreal. Great to see such a big turn out.
And the trophys...wow...you went all out!

    A big thank you! (y)

Yes, I lost face with my runs. I'm pumping 70 more horses and running 2 tenths slower. When I manually shifted the tranny...there was a long delay in the upshift. When it finally kicked in...I almost went into the right wall.
Looks like it's gonna have to come out and get some attention. Rats!

Jimmy, that was an amazing turnout! You and Bev did an excellent job of putting this all together  It really gave a chance for everyone to feel like part of the Maverick/Comet family and it was great to put some real voices and faces to some names! By the way, how do you guys get the photos on the main body of this message vs. having to shrink them all down to load as an attachment? Thanks,

    Rob

    Mega-Awesome Mega-Ford Mega-Weekend

    Awesome weekend

    Beautiful weather.
    Great facility.
Paddocks were full of every variety of Ford muscle and metal.
Galaxie Club had a jaw dropping collection for their Show & Shine
Jimmie & Bev hosted a perfect event for our first local meet... and reserved a cozy, picturesque lane at the back of the paddock just for us!
With oodles of Mustangs from every generation packing the facility, the commentators made special mention of us each time the Mavericks and Comets lined up to run the track, mentioned the MMB forum, and also to check out our "growing gathering" on the facility.
BBQ burgers taste SO-O-O good when someone else cooks 'em

Great to see familiar faces from previous meet-ups and great to meet some new people.

Everyone was friendly, chatty, and havin a good time. The only troublemakers were a million bees looking for someone to sting, and one errant Stingray (a cherry 66 'Vette parked in clearly marked FORD TERRITORY) - but security was called and the offending Chevy was moved across to the gravel parking lot. ;)

364 days till the next Mega Ford Weekend.

Unfortunately my DV cam battery is weak so I have just minimal footage, and I shot it in wide screen so now I have to adapt it post the video... but I'll hopefully get something on here later this week.

We MUST do this again when I have spare batteries so I can film lots more.

Again... we MUST do this again :yup:
