I figured someone else here had to hear about it. Fair price?? that remains to be seen. The last car that I took out of "storage" had about 3/4" of mold and midew inside. You never know untill you try. RUss
Hey Russ, You never know what you are getting until you check it out. I had a guy come to my work looking for me cuz he knew I had 5 Comets. Wanted to know if I wanted to buy his 74 Comet 4dr. I wasn't excited about a 4dr, but I looked at it anyway. Guess what! It was a factory 302 car with manual disc brakes in the front. New paint job, new vinyl top, new heater core, new front windshield, & $500.00 worth of new brakes on the rear (which I had done at Midas 5 months prior). Said he had to get rid of it, no more room in his yard. Either I take it for a parts car, or it was going to the crusher. He asked me to make an offer. I told him he wouldn't like my offer (thinking $100.00). I asked him what he wanted for it? He told me he would take $200.00 cash, right now! I told him, I'll be right back. Went to the ATM machine dug into my savings account & became the owner of my 6th Comet. This car has no rust (kept under a car cover). The paint & top still look new. It does need a new carpet & the drivers seat redone. It didn't have the bottom half of the dash in it (I had one at home in a 74 Comet 2dr) same color. Check it out for yourself.....I drive it daily & take it to local car shows. Never judge a book by it's cover. And to think, I was going to part it out.....What was I thinking? LOL
Here is a parts car I bought that I am now driving on the weekends....you just never know what will pop up!!
dabitis There seems to be a bidding war for that 70 mav. I only have one thing to say. U guys are so lucky to have these cars in abundance in the USA. they are usually in decent shape to become restorods. We can't buy cars for that kinda money unless they have no floors and torque tubes or subframes are rotted out of them. Some people have all the luck. PS. A 77 I found with rotten bumpers, destroyed interior, I6 with 180,000, shock towers with cancer. sold for 500. go figure
