OK heres the deal. This car has always puzzled me a bit. When I bought it it had a fuel pressure gauge mounted on the cowl. It has a big Carter electric pump mounted very nicely on the trunk floor. Someone did this very well with steel lines running through the floor and the pump rubber mounted to a bracket. It also has a big Carter mechanical pump on the motor. Turns out the mechanical pump works just fine without the electric. Ran this by Mavman and we figured someone may have been running a cheater nitrous or something along those lines.
Anyhow question is what would you guys do?
Keep the mechanical pump and unhook the electric? OR
Keep the electric and remove the mechanical?
Heres my thought. I'm not racing the car so keep the mechanical,by-pass the electric but leave it in place as a back up in case the mech. fails it could easily be hooked up.
Also I question the location of the electric. Shouldnt it be down at fuel level instead of above the tank?
So there ya have it. Thought it was a good topic to post.

Does the one in the trunk get in the way of stuff? What if you were to want to put folding chairs and a cooler in there when going to a meet or something?

OK thats what I figured. Thats what I find strange. They did such a nice job on this drivetrain and didnt spare any expense, yet the electric is above fuel level. Strange.

Yes thats a concern but I dont really use the trunk so I could leave it in place.

the may of had a small enrichment fuel cell mounted in the trunk to run the nitrous on its own fuel system.
