    Hello again, all.

Working on my 71 comet with the EFI 3.8 and I'm replacing the harness so I need to get inside my dash. Unfortunately, my chilton manual didn't make the move here to Co Springs so I'm relying on my memory which really sucks.

Until my replacement chilton arrives, can any of you guys that removed the heat box (with a/c), give me some pointers on the mount locations. i've never removed one of these and I don't want to stress the 30+ year old fiberglass just because i missed a bolt or screw somewhere. So far I've pulled the dash tray out and removed the "hanger" bolt from the front passenger side. The firewall isn't real accessable since I got a gaggle of EFI wiring harness right there. The a/c lines and heater lines are separated and I already removed the a/c vent hose to prevent breaking the vent line (thanks for the advice on that one).

I know this seems lazy, but with tons of threads about rebuilding/replacing this box assembly I was hoping one of you would have a clear memory to removal....or even a scan of that a/c heat section of the chilton manual. I hate for this project to wait since I'm on leave for the next week and I'd love to make some progress on this girl and fire up the new 3.8.

    Take care

It bolts through the firewall. The nuts are on the engine side. I dont remember how many there are but if you see a stud sticking through with a nut on it, take it off.

I believe there are 4 nuts to remove from the firewall engine side. They are all in the area close to the heater hoses. If the box has ever been out before, some of them my not have nuts on them, mine only had three out of the four.
