I'm beginning to think that once you own a Maverick / Comet that they tend to multiply!

When I first joined up, I didn't own even one of the cars. Now I own not one, but 2 '72 Comet GTs! :thumbs2:

It's a sickness I tell ya! :yup: :biglaugh:

It's not a sickness. A sickness leads to addiction. I have no addiction. I can quit anytime. Yes, I can. I know I can. Of course, I can. I can, I really can!!! At least, I think I can. Can't I ?

Thats why I welcome the newcomers with..."Welcome to the madness!!!" At least you have taken the first step by admitting you have multiple comets...

yes, its a sickness and is very contagious and detrimental to your health and your wallet. I however, have found the cure. i charge fifty dollars per session, and at each session, i slowly wean you off one of your mavericks or comets at a time. the bigger your "problem" the more sessions you need, but hey, isn't your health worth it? and just think of the money you'll save. i won't even charge you extra for storage of the problem cars. just hand over titles and keys, and you will be on the road to recovery. and i realize that by doing this i am putting myself at extreme risk of catching this disease, but its worth it to help my friends. who wants to sign up first? :D

I could quit any time if I wanted to as well.

Two years ago (December 13 at 6:42pm, Pacific time) I bought a 72 Comet.
Last year (September 28 at 1:27pm, Pacific time) I bought a 72 Comet.
Between now and the end of December, I must buy another Comet - it doesn't have to be a 72, but I would like it to be.

Since I'm not COMPULSIVE nor ADDICTED it isn't absolutely necessary, but if I don't buy another Comet before the end of the year I will Go Postal.
Complicating matters is that my girlfriend will Go Postal on me if I buy another Comet.

I'm building a workshed attached to the slowly growing canopy housing my Comets and car parts which live in the front yard (not just PART OF the front yard but soon the WHOLE front yard - inching my girlfriend ever closer to Going Postal).
She's just given me permission to build a 2 car garage in the back yard to replace the anticipated 2 car carport (canopy) taking up the front yard.

She just does NOT understand my SCHEME - er... I mean ANTICIPATE my logic.... uh - future plans.
She thinks I'm going to move the 2 Comets into the garage in the back yard.

    Pffft... yeah right.

A two car garage in the back yard plus the expansive assemblage of tarps/wood beams/workshop/rope/work lights/motion sensors, etc in the front yard means that I can have at least 5 Comets nested around the property... and eventually, several years from now, when I am out of room on the property I must force the kids out on their own (after college) to make room for more parts in the house.
This does not include the bunker I must build to hide the subsequent 4 or 5 more Comets that I later plan to acquire.

The truth is, these are INVESTMENTS not an addiction nor compulsion. We must all fight to save them... each and every one of them, not just because they're fun, but because it's necessary. It's a guy thing. It doesn't make sense to our respective girlfriends/wives. Just like all their fancy, expensive diets. $800 for a weight loss program when all you need to do is stop eating... (BTW... last I heard it DOESN'T COST ANYTHING TO STOP EATING)...

    ???

... that money could buy another Comet which will last a lot longer than the diet pills..

I tell her each $500 car will eventually be worth about $5,000, and since our property is also going up in value all the time, I might as well fill the yards up with cars that will skyrocket in price in the future. Don't anyone tell me that these cars will not skyrocket in price because
    :bs:
if I keep telling her that often enough she'll believe me.

Eventually we'll sell the house and buy an apartment or condo. I will make sure the building has LOTS of underground parking and NO LIMITS on how many extra parking stalls you can rent.

'Nothin CRAZY 'bout a coLLecktion of COmetS.

That is a cool coincidence! :thumbs2:

Our Red ones are both bright red, but my green one is the dark green version. I just uploaded pictures of both of mine to my gallery.

    http://mmb.maverick.to/gallery/browseimages.php?do=member&imageuser=12314

The red one people have seen before as I bought it from Mean Maverick. The green one I got off of eBay as a second chance deal earlier today when the winning bidder backed out of the deal.

I may actually end up with a 3rd one if the deal doesn't fall through. My uncle found one for me that is a complete rust bucket that he's trying to talk the owner out of for me to use as a parts car. I should find out about that one next week sometime. The funny thing is it's also a Green early 70's small bumper car.

Now I just need to get both of them from Kentucky (the red one) and Virginia (the green one) to South Carolina so the fun can begin when my back allows me to actually work on them.

    You lucky mon...

parts cars?... they look pretty good to me (I know - pics lie)... I'm just jealous because both yours have hood scoops and both mine need 'em...

Now you have a tough decision...

WHERE TO START WITH THE REBUILDING?

So if THE SICKNESS has gripped you by the nads the first thing you need to do is buy a truckload of large ziplock baggies to start labeling parts and you'll feel better in no time.
