The Maverick and Granada spindles are the same, correct? I have a 1964 fairlane with cop/station wagon finned heavy duty drums all the way around that were rebuilt not that long ago. In order to do a disc brake swap on a fairlane, you need GRANADA spindles and brakes.... SO, would it not then be possible for me to put the fairlane spindles onto my maverick and have the fairlane brakes on my maverick? It would be super cheap cuz I have all the parts, and I'd be willing to bet that those huge ass drums would stop that little maverick in a HURRY, because that's what they used on the Thunderbolts, and the maverick is at least 500 pounds lighter than that. I had my fairlane up to over 100 mph and when I stepped on the brakes my face damn near went through the windshield.....any feedback or ideas?
Not really 100%...but I believe you may be able to use the Fairlane drums on the Mav spindles! Check to makes sure that the bearing and seals match. I have swapped 5 bolt Torino drums to replace my 4 bolt ones..and it was pretty strait forward(I have disc brakes now though). Do you have four or 5 bolt pattern now? Not an expert..just giving an opion!
I tried to just swap the brakes, but the bearings are totally different. The fairlane's are bigger. I read that the granada spindles bolt into the fairlne ball joints with no hassles. Are the maverick spindles and granada spindles the same? If so then I think they would work... I know that maverick and granada non power discs and calipers are the same pieces, but I'm not positive on the spindles.
