I am trying to get the factory shackle off of my 71 grabber. I was able to get the nuts and the plate off but no luck with getting the bolts out. Any advise?
Only thing holding the shackle in now is spring tension and... RUST... You may have to drive em out,and they may take the steel sleeve in the bushings out with em.
You've never worked on a Canadian car thats for sure. Our shackles are seized in the bushing in a few years.
Done all of that , weight is off, pry bar and large hammer. Large hammer causes large gash in hand when you hit the bottom lip of the rear valance so it will come off next. Guess i am not hitting hard enough, but hard enough to hurt.
the air hammer is a good ideal but you might have to drop the tank if there isnt any room to get it up in there.
