This is the best price I've found on a 50 oz, 157 tooth flexplate for my roller motor and C4.
    http://www.kmjent.com/cart/product.php?productid=655&cat=7951799&page=1

Only question I have about this one is they say "was most common in '82-'00 C4 transmissioned 302s" and I've read here that these flexplates never came from the factory. I just ignore that statement, right?

Is there a better place to buy the flexplate? Didn't find anything cheaper on ebay.

Yup, that is about the going price for these things on ebay and similar lists.

And I agree with the mean one, as far as I have read, they were never used on any car from the factory, and had to be specially produced to fit our 5.0/c4 small-bell combos.

Don't know if I'd buy from them with them making that claim. The C-4 morphed into the C-5 in the early 80's before the switch to the 50 oz crank was made. All the C-5's had the larger 164 tooth flexplate and bell.

I have seen several sellers state similar, that they were used on such-and-such combos, but I wouldn't NOT buy from them just because they were given mis-information, most likely from their supplier.

They are just trying to sell the things, and if they heard wrong and repeat it, i wouldn't blame them.

At least they got the number of teeth and weight right.

And these things are usually SFI approved, so they are built to last, regardless of how the seller mis-describes it.

I would likely tell the seller that he is wrong and give him the correct information if I bought from him. Just to help him out so he doesn't sound like an idiot. I would do this AFTER I received the part and IF he deserved positive feedback :p

they're just a tad bit bigger as the 164 tooth bell and flywheels have a slightly larger 11" torque converter

The C4 was replaced in 1982 by the C5, which was essentially an improved C4 with a lock-up clutch in the torque converter to improve highway fuel economy. It bore the casting numbers D2, D3, D4, D5, and D6, corresponding with the year it was produced. The C5 was phased out in 1986, replaced by the AOD. The production plant in Sharonville, Ohio was converted to production of the C6 transmission which was relocated from Livonia, Michigan, as the Livonia facility was converted to the front wheel drive AXOD.

The pan-fill C-4 has been called a C-5 as well. The 80's C-5 is a different animal with the lockup converter. Bells are different, the 80's model is deeper by about an inch.
